Public works projects provide public goods and services, stimulate the economy, and create regional employment opportunities. The impact of construction projects is understood through environmental analysis and mitigated through various means and methods prior to, during, and after construction. Many public organizations have begun programs and initiatives on their own to ensure that environmental impact reduction is a normal part of construction operations, that emissions from construction equipment are reduced or cleaned-up, and that other sustainability related activities are incorporated into design and construction practices. This coalition serves as a forum for sharing best practices and information among agencies, constructors, and the general public.
